Rajinikanth unveils cover of the latest historical thriller from the bestselling author of the Shiva Trilogy. HarperCollins India is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of The Chola Tigers: Avengers of Somnath, the second title in Amish’s bestselling Indic Chronicles series. Scheduled to hit shelves on 29 August 2025, this historical fiction promises a pulse-pounding saga of vengeance, honour, and national pride.

The book’s cover was unveiled in a private ceremony in Chennai by none other than Indian cinema icon Rajinikanth, alongside author Amish, marking a powerful union of Tamil pride and literary excellence.

Following the success of Legend of Suheldev, The Chola Tigers returns readers to a turbulent medieval India. Set in 1025 CE, it chronicles a bold mission of retaliation led by Emperor Rajendra Chola, in the aftermath of Mahmud of Ghazni’s brutal destruction of the sacred Somnath temple. Five remarkable individuals—a Tamil warrior, a Gujarati merchant, a Lord Ayyappa devotee, a scholar-emperor from Malwa, and the mighty Chola emperor himself—embark on a perilous quest deep into enemy territory.

“This is a story of sacrifice and vengeance, of unity in the face of devastation,” said Amish. “Rajendra Chola was one of the greatest rulers of his time, and his fictionalised strike back at Ghazni is my tribute to his legacy. That Rajinikanth ji unveiled the book cover makes it even more special—it’s Tamil pride meeting Indian pride.”

Poulomi Chatterjee, Executive Publisher at HarperCollins India, commented: “Amish has the rare ability to bring India’s past alive with storytelling that is as moving as it is entertaining. The Chola Tigers is vintage Amish—gripping, dramatic and deeply rooted in Indian ethos. Readers are in for an unforgettable ride.”

With Amish’s hallmark blend of myth, history, and imagination, The Chola Tigers is poised to become one of the most talked-about releases of the year—an epic that asks a searing question: How far would you go to defend dharma and your nation’s honour?
