Penguin Random House India has unveiled Penguin Tattva, a new imprint under its Penguin Select division, dedicated to publishing books rooted in Indian spiritual and philosophical traditions. The imprint seeks to make ancient wisdom accessible, relevant, and engaging for contemporary readers.
The name Tattva, meaning principle, truth, or reality, reflects the imprint’s mission: to present India’s timeless spiritual and philosophical knowledge in formats that resonate with today’s readers. Penguin Tattva plans to release 12–15 carefully curated titles each year, spanning two main publishing tracks:
- Simplified Editions for New-Generation Readers: Concise, insightful interpretations of classical texts, including the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Upanishads, and Bhakti poetry. These editions are aimed at Gen Z, spiritual explorers, and global readers seeking clarity and meaningful connection.
- Collector’s, Gifting & Reference Editions: Scholarly editions of sacred texts and commentaries, designed for collectors, gifting, and readers deeply engaged with Indian knowledge traditions.
Shivani Pandey, Editor in charge of Penguin Tattva, said, “In an era of constant noise and distraction, Penguin Tattva offers readers clarity and depth rooted in India’s enduring traditions. As we navigate an increasingly volatile and complex world, the need for grounded insight has never been greater. This imprint is where ancient Indian philosophy meets the modern mind—books that inspire, guide, and transform.”
As part of Penguin Select, Penguin Tattva leverages Penguin Random House India’s legacy of high-quality publishing while carving a distinct space in the Indian and global market for wisdom literature. The inaugural list, set to launch later this year, promises works that combine clarity, authenticity, and visual elegance—books that are both timeless and transformative.
