HarperCollins has announced Ghost-Eye, a new novel by Amitav Ghosh, to be published on 15 December 2025. In this haunting and deeply human story, Ghosh brings together memory, identity, and the pull of past lives.
The novel opens in Calcutta, where a young girl named Varsha—raised in a strictly vegetarian household—insists on being fed fish. She remembers another home, another mother, another life entirely. Decades later, in Brooklyn, one man’s search for Varsha brings long-buried memories to the surface, revealing the fragile threads that bind families, destinies, and the world we inhabit.
Ghosh, recipient of the Jnanpith Award, the Erasmus Prize, and the Pak Kyongni Prize, is celebrated for weaving history, myth, and social critique into stories that resonate across generations. Ghost-Eye promises to be a sweeping, emotionally charged narrative about fate, belonging, and the planet we all share.
