Westland Books will launch Heartland Rising: The Making of Majoritarian India, the latest book by lawyer and author Javed Gaya, at the India International Centre (IIC) in New Delhi on August 4, Tuesday evening. The event will feature a panel discussion on the changing contours of Indian democracy, majoritarian politics and constitutional governance.

According to the publisher, Heartland Rising examines how majoritarian politics has evolved and become embedded within India’s governance framework. The book traces the country’s socio-political journey from the Partition and the framing of the Constitution to contemporary political developments. It explores issues including federalism, constitutional safeguards and debates surrounding cultural identity.

The discussion will be moderated by lawyer and author Malavika Rajkotia. Joining the conversation will be Javed Gaya, academic and writer Apoorvanand, and senior Congress leader and Chairperson of the Indian National Congress’ Foreign Affairs Department, Salman Khurshid. The panel is expected to deliberate on the political, social and legal developments that have shaped present-day India.

The launch will take place at Seminar Hall 1 & 2, Kamala Devi Complex, India International Centre, New Delhi, beginning at 6 pm.

The event is expected to draw academics, legal experts, policymakers, students and readers interested in contemporary Indian politics and constitutional discourse.
