Former Karnataka chief minister and Union minister M. Veerappa Moily’s memoir Unlimited Dreams, Limited Time has been officially launched, offering an account of his journey from rural Karnataka to the highest levels of public life.
Published by Rupa Publications, the 304-page book is priced at ₹995. In the memoir, Moily reflects on his career as a lawyer, politician, administrator and writer, and recounts key moments from his political and public life.
Speaking about why he chose to write the book, Moily said his desire to do more has remained a constant throughout his life.
“Someone asked me, why did you choose this topic? Because we had plenty of time, plenty of opportunity and accessibility to platforms was not limited, it was unlimited. But my mind has always been restless that I could do more, I need more time and that restlessness continues,” he said.
The memoir traces Moily’s early years in rural Karnataka and his subsequent political journey, including his tenure as chief minister of Karnataka and his work as a Union minister holding portfolios such as Petroleum and Natural Gas, Law and Justice, and Corporate Affairs.
The book also looks at his role in economic, tax, education, infrastructure and administrative reforms. It draws on his experience as chairman of the Second Administrative Reforms Commission and his involvement in policy and governance.
Beyond politics, Moily writes about literature, culture and philosophy and shares personal experiences and stories from his public life.
Moily is also a prolific writer in Kannada and English. His literary works include Sri Ramayana Mahanveshanam, which won the Saraswati Samman, and Sreebahubali Ahimsadigvijayam, which received the Sahitya Akademi Award.
Unlimited Dreams, Limited Time presents his life and public career against the backdrop of India’s changing political and administrative landscape.
