The worlds of digital entertainment and bestselling fiction are coming together in what is being billed as one of the biggest publishing events of the year. YouTube’s biggest creator MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) and acclaimed thriller writer James Patterson have announced their first co-authored novel, The Most Dangerous Games, set for release on September 1, 2026.

The announcement was made through a trailer on MrBeast’s YouTube channel, where the duo also unveiled the book’s cover. The novel is now available for pre-order and will be released through major retailers worldwide.

Described as a fast-paced, cinematic thriller, The Most Dangerous Games follows 100 contestants competing in a brutal survival contest in a world on the brink of collapse. The winner stands to receive $1 billion and a chance to save humanity, as increasingly dangerous challenges push players beyond their physical and psychological limits.

Speaking about the collaboration, MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) said the novel was inspired by his desire to make reading exciting for younger audiences.

“Growing up, I thought books were boring. As I got into my 20s I realized I was just reading the wrong books and they can be exciting if it’s the right match. Writing this book with James—who’s literally one of the greatest storytellers on the planet—was an opportunity to create a story that I would’ve been obsessed with as a kid. I wanted to make something that would draw young people in and get a whole generation psyched about reading again.”
