Westland Books announces diverse publishing list featuring Dalai Lama biography, journalism, politics and fiction

Westland Books has unveiled a wide-ranging lineup of upcoming titles spanning biography, current affairs, journalism, business, fiction and poetry, led by Eternal Light: The Life and Legacy of the 14th Dalai Lama by senior journalist Arvind Yadav.

Released to coincide with the 91st birthday celebrations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Eternal Light traces the spiritual leader’s journey from his childhood in Tibet to becoming a global symbol of peace, compassion and non-violence. The biography explores the Tibetan struggle, the Dalai Lama’s exile in India and his lasting influence on international discourse on peace and human rights.

The publisher has also announced The Web Beneath the Waves: And Other Reports From Our Tangled World by award-winning journalist Samanth Subramanian. The collection brings together fifteen years of reportage and essays covering subjects ranging from undersea internet cables and endangered languages to cricket, politics and global conflicts.

Among the notable non-fiction releases is De-Democratisation, A Global Story: Script, Actors, Enablers by activist Kavita Krishnan, which examines democratic backsliding and human rights through a global lens. Veteran television journalist Maya Sharma’s memoir, Good News, Bad News: A Life in Television, chronicles three decades of Indian television journalism and reflects on the evolution of the news industry.

The business list includes The Product Code: Shoper, Tally and the Making of an Entrepreneur by Shoaib Ahmed, co-founder of Vedha Automations and former president of Tally Solutions. The book recounts the journey of building one of India’s pioneering software product companies and offers insights into entrepreneurship and product innovation.

Westland’s fiction offerings feature The Others by Sheena Kalayil, a novel set against the fall of the Berlin Wall; Grief Burns Like Fever by Minakshi Thakur, which explores lives intertwined during the COVID-19 lockdown; and Relics of Love by Kashif Mashaikh, a supernatural thriller centred on grief, memory and redemption.

The poetry list is represented by Cries, the debut collection by journalist Soumya Mukerji, while bestselling author Amish Tripathi makes his children’s fiction debut with Dhruv Tara: The Great Indian History Quiz – When Rivals Become Teammates, a historical adventure designed for young readers.

With subjects ranging from spirituality and democracy to journalism, entrepreneurship and contemporary fiction, the new catalogue reflects Westland Books’ continued focus on publishing voices across genres and perspectives.
